2011 Cassegrain Shiraz – Top Drop

2011 Cassegrain Shiraz – Top Drop

2011 Cassegrain Shiraz

The cooling weather calls for a rich, warming wine with more body and flavour. Cassegrain’s 2011 Shiraz has an alluring deep plum colour with the aroma of ripe berries. The lush fruit flavours give the wine body whilst the velvety mouth feel provides the depth and length I seek in a Shiraz.

This is a full bodied wine with a lovely, spicy complexity.  The vineyard suggests the wine will reward cellaring, but it’s drinking so well at the moment I think that might be a difficult ask.

Goes with:         Game, Slow Cooked Lamb, or a Bittersweet Chocolate Tart

Cost:                    $18.00

Available:           Cellar Door,

Or most good bottle shops

About Julie

  1. Alesah Villalon :

I must admit – this is educational for me as I know little about wines. Thought wines only go well with meat dishes and cheese. Now even chocolate! Thanks, Julie, for another great gourmet experience!

  2. I do like Shiraz very much, and this sounds like a good one. 🙂

  3. Wines in our house never make it to the cellar either. It’s quite the problem. I do love Cassegrain wines and I’ve even visited their vineyard! xx

  4. This would definitely suit the food that we’ve been eating lately! 😀

  5. I love a good Shiraz 🙂

  6. A good shiraz is always gourmand, with chesee, chocolate….

  7. Sounds like a nice wine… pairing it with chocolate tart sounds perfect to me. 🙂

  8. It’s hard to find a wine that goes well with chocolate flavours – thanks for the tip! Xox

  9. This is a new winery for me and I look forward to tasting some soon. If you say it’s good, I trust you.
