There is something to be said for the relaxing effects of a refreshing night’s sleep on a tropical island. Waking up to a balmy day, taking a walk to the infinity edge pool, and diving in at 8.00am in the morning.
We are staying at the Absolute Q Signature Timeshare Resort on Koh Samui. Our two bedroom, self contained Thai style apartment is spacious and has two bathrooms, full kitchen and balconies which face the sea. The accommodation is a little dated but it’s clean and beautifully maintained. The apartments are scattered over a hill which slopes toward Choeng Mon Beach. Lush tropical landscaping gives each villa privacy, and the resort a feeling of tranquility.
As we walked down to breakfast I commented to the family how pleased I was that this would be our home for the next week. It was the ideal base to explore all the island of Koh Samui has to offer.
Mr GG is always ready to start a holiday off on the right foot so after a few laps of the pool he declares it time for a Singha beer. My focus is on obtaining a good strong coffee and lazing by the pool. The restaurant is conveniently located right above the pool. I ordered my coffee and the friendly staff brought it to me poolside.
With our short term goals satisfied and the children playing happily in the pool Mr GG and I discussed our plans for the day. We both agreed that yesterday had been a huge day! Driving from Phuket to Koh Samui yesterday meant the children were keen to play in the pool today. Hubby and I were enjoying our quiet time so we decided to have a “cruisey” morning at the resort and then venture out later for lunch.
This gave me the opportunity to checkout the tourism desk located at the resort. I wanted to book in some activities for the following day. After all, a holiday can’t all be about relaxing!
With the help of the tour operator I booked the following two days activities;
- City Safari Tour
- Thai Cooking Class
Walking about the resort I noticed beautiful floral displays and typical Thai statues. These are the little touches that remind me I am in Thailand.
I returned to Mr GG who was enjoying his time by the pool and told him my plans, I’m sure I heard him groan but I sweetened the deal by telling him I had booked an inhouse massage for him.
I tell him all the time that I am a good wife… I’m not sure if he believes me yet.
When we take a holiday I like to be on the go… where as, I get the impression Mr GG is ready for a relaxing vacation.
So tell me readers, what style of holiday do you prefer? Do you like relaxing by the pool and letting the world pass you by, or would you prefer to have activities booked in and capitalise on every spare moment?
