Absolute Q Signature Resort Thailand

There is something to be said for the relaxing effects of a refreshing night’s sleep on a tropical island.  Waking up to a balmy day, taking a walk to the infinity edge pool, and diving in at 8.00am in the morning.

We are staying at the Absolute Q Signature Timeshare Resort on Koh Samui.  Our two bedroom, self contained Thai style apartment is spacious and has two bathrooms, full kitchen and balconies which face the sea.  The accommodation is a little dated but it’s clean and beautifully maintained. The apartments are scattered over a hill which slopes toward Choeng Mon Beach.  Lush tropical landscaping gives each villa privacy, and the resort a feeling of tranquility.

As we walked down to breakfast I commented to the family how pleased I was that this would be our home for the next week.  It was the ideal base to explore all the island of Koh Samui has to offer.

Mr GG is always ready to start a holiday off on the right foot so after a few laps of the pool he declares it time for a Singha beer.  My focus is on obtaining a good strong coffee and lazing by the pool. The restaurant is conveniently located right above the pool.   I ordered my coffee and the friendly staff brought it to me poolside.

With our short term goals satisfied and the children playing happily in the pool Mr GG and I discussed our plans for the day.  We both agreed that yesterday had been a huge day! Driving from Phuket to Koh Samui yesterday meant the children were keen to play in the pool today.  Hubby and I were enjoying our quiet time so we decided to have a “cruisey” morning at the resort and then venture out later for lunch.

This gave me the opportunity to checkout the tourism desk located at the resort. I wanted to book in some activities for the following day. After all, a holiday can’t all be about relaxing!

With the help of the tour operator I booked the following two days activities;

  • City Safari Tour
  • Thai Cooking Class

Walking about the resort I noticed beautiful floral displays and typical Thai statues. These are the little touches that remind me I am in Thailand.

I returned to Mr GG who was enjoying his time by the pool and told him my plans, I’m sure I heard him groan but I sweetened the deal by telling him I had booked an inhouse massage for him.

I tell him all the time that I am a good wife… I’m not sure if he believes me yet.

When we take a holiday I like to be on the go… where as, I get the impression Mr GG is ready for a relaxing vacation.

So tell me readers, what style of holiday do you prefer? Do you like relaxing by the pool and letting the world pass you by, or would you prefer to have activities booked in and capitalise on every spare moment?

  1. We like to mix it up between activities and relaxing when we travel – maybe 50/50. Anyway, sounds like a lovely place – thanks for the great pictures and writeup!

  2. Wow such a gorgeous resort!

  3. What a wonderful place. A perfect setting indeed!

  4. It really is so relaxing! Happy hour was pretty good too 😉

  5. We always stay in timeshare resorts as we love to self cater – this one looks fantastic. PS thanks for the foodie friends link love. Please change it to Lavender and Lime. I tried to find out how to email you, but for the life of me I cannot find an email link 🙂

  6. Oh this sounds like my kind of holiday for sure! I really could use some R&R 🙂

  7. I used to be a hyperactive holiday maker but these days can joyfully lie by the pool reading books for hours… if allowed… which is rare. But I do love a sporty holiday, pre-kids it was all about going underwater… madly looking forward to a luxe walking holiday is Tassie in January… This looks a lovely spot and an apartment is always a good idea.

  8. Hmm that’s a tough question! I like a bit of both. I’m hopeless at lying by a pool though-I find that terribly boring. I’d join you for the tour and cooking class but only after a sleep in and leisurely brunch! 😀

  9. Hmm…I like a bit of both so that everyone gets to enjoy and feel refreshed 🙂 Looking forward to your Thai Cooking lesson session!!!Have fun!

  10. Ahhh, what a tough life, Julie. Balmy tropical breezes, laps in a luxury pool and lovely Buddhas and flowers peeking out at every turn!…Tee her. I’ll try not to turn too green =) The Absolute Q Signature Resort does look wonderful!

  11. Going to a place like Asia, I would definitely want to combine touring with relaxation- otherwise you could just relax by the pool somewhere in Australia. Cooking classes, here I come!!

  12. Well, it depends on how long I’m visiting a place. If it’s only for a short time then I prefer doing as much as I can, in case I miss out on anything!

  13. I like to do both. A little bit of relaxing when I am completely exhausted after looking around and eating. Looks too gorgeous

  14. I am so excited to have just found your blog, and especially excited you have a section on Thailand! My husband and I are going to Thailand in a month for a month long honeymoon, and I am always looking for recommendations! We both love to travel, so it is nice I will have your blog to follow along with for ideas. Thanks so much in advance for your tips & recommendations!
