Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies

Please excuse my generalisation but Americans seem to be in love with the combination of chocolate and peanut butter.

Now I like peanut butter, I will occasionally spread a piece of toast with a generous scoop of the crunchy variety, but it’s not my “go to” product, and I don’t usually bake with it. So when this months Chocolate Party theme was Chocolate and Peanut butter I really had to think hard about the type of baked good my children would enjoy, which utilised the combination.

As it turned out I needn’t have been concerned.  The kids were all over this Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie.  I was lucky to get an opportunity to photograph it before it was completely demolished. I guess it goes to show 319 million Americans can’t be wrong.

So what was the fudge like? It was deliciously rich, sweet and chocolaty with a smooth, salty, crunchy creamy vein of warm peanut butter flowing through the middle. I didn’t get the opportunity to try the Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie cold as it didn’t last that long!

About Julie

  1. Alesah Villalon :

Mmmm…looks good! The feeling is mutual – crunchy peanut butter rules!

  2. Hehe I also love the PC and chocolate combination but I like PB and honey just a little bit more. But I wouldn’t kick either out of bed πŸ˜› These look delightful Julie!

  3. You seriously can’t go wrong with chocolate ad peanut butter together. Can’t say I usually buy peanut butter or is it my go to item either!

  4. I would say that your generalization is pretty accurate. I’m the one exception to that though – I don’t like peanut butter (!!), so I am usually the one weird person in the room. My husband and daughter would probably fight over your gorgeous brownies though! πŸ™‚

  5. Haha yeah, I think most Americans are in love with this combo. Well, most American women. But in my household, it’s my husband who loves chocolate and peanut butter! He always requests some form of this combination for his birthday dessert. If I show him this recipe, he’ll demand that I make it immediately πŸ™‚

  6. PB & chocolate is what Nutella is to much of the rest of the world. Just plain old good stuff! And I’m a sucker for either flavor experience. These look terrific — thanks.

  7. This American does think these pb chocolate wonders do look and sound amazing. Julie. Your kids have good taste!

  8. I don’t think that’s a generalisation! But I’m a big fan of that combination and I’m not American. I love the look of your brownies and how you can actually see the peanut butter streaking through the chocolate xx

  9. Oh my, I can totally see how these brownies got devoured, the look fantastic! Lovely photos and blog.

  10. This recette looks delicious, my daugther saw it and tell me “when you make the same one?” Then I think I’m gonna make it!
How I can participate to the concours?

  11. Once I tried this flavour combination I knew why the Americans loved it so! Great recipe Julie πŸ™‚

  12. the best combination – so rich but so good

  13. Waaahhh… hold me back from dashing into the kitchen to make this! I love peanut butter and chocolate and am sure this would be a hit with me, oh yes and not forgetting the kids. It my twins birthday tomorrow and I have made two white chocolate mud cakes and two chocolate and beetroot cakes… and only one gentle jog in two days. Oh dear! Will definitely be giving these a whirl… after my next gentle jog! I must tell you that we did make the pizza supremem cookies in the holidays, very good!

  14. PB and chocolate is the perfect combination… And these brownies are to die for! I wish I could have my mouth full of them.

  15. I’ve didn’t quite get this American love for PB until recently when I made a cake with the same combination. Won’t say that it blew me away but it was nice. But I know for a fact that PB would rock in brownie recipe. Your’s looks gorgeous.

  16. Ooh I cannot wait to try this recipe for my kids!!Love chocolate peanut butter combo!Looks every bit delicious and no surprises that it was all gone πŸ™‚

  17. My mouth is watering with just the anticipation of biting into one of these amazing chocolate peanut butter brownies. It is torture and there is not one drop or molecule of chocolate in my house right now. My boys found my secret stash under the broccoli. Have a super week.

  18. You should have called me! No generalizing – I love chocolate and peanut butter together and I have the proper accent to eat it! These look terrific.

  19. Looks awesome! Peanut butter and chocolate is the best!

  20. Julie these brownies sound delicious. You are right about your generalization, my husband loves all things chocolate and peanut butter!

  21. PB and chocolate were made for each other! And these brownies have my name written all over them! I love those peanut butter swirls!

  22. The idea of the bittersweet chocolate and crunchy peanut butter sounds good. So many times a recipe calls for milk chocolate which I think is too sweet when paired with peanut butter.

  23. I do not like plain peanut butter at all. But it’s a whole different animal when combined with chocolate! Your brownies look amazing…welcome to the choco-pb fan club πŸ™‚

  24. I think PB is very popular here in the US. You can find this ingredient in many desserts along with chocolate. I like to spread Nutella more than PB (in fact I don’t own a jar of PB…). However, I tasted PB in brownies before and it’s wonderful! Your brownies look very nice and yummy!

  25. Ooh, they look so good – I love how “swirly” they look on top. Need to make me some of these… I think I’d be my wife’s favourite person if I did. Perhaps I’ll save it for when I’m in her bad books for something πŸ˜€

  26. Made these this arvo – too good. That hint of salt from the peanut butter is just great. Am eating far too much of it!
