Oh I do love receiving surprise presents in the mail!!

I especially like to receive gifts of exotic foods.  I have a confession, I did actually signed up for “Europe in a Box” so technically it wasn’t a surprise, or a gift but the feeling of anticipation was fantastic.  I had no idea what European treats would be contained in this package.

When I opened my pressy it was so gorgeously presented I had to take a picture straight away to show you.  It is the little things that make an experience special.

Europe In A Box

The first product I noticed was the Blanxart Drinking chocolate.  As soon as I opened the gift wrapping the aroma of decadent rich chocolate was intoxicating.  The chocolate is from Barcelona in Spain and was first produced in 1954 by a famous chocolatier.

I continued to breathe in the delicious chocolate aroma as I set up the contents of my package for a mini photo shoot.  One by one I examined the contents.  I was debating whether I was in a sweet or savoury mood but the “Galettes Caramel au Beurre Sale” from Le Cordon Bleu in France won me over.  As soon as the picture taken I tore open the box of cookkies.  I simply cannot describe the eating pleasure.  I love shortbread and these were super thin, crisp and butter with a delicious salted caramel flavour.  I would have gotten away with eating them all but Mr GG walked into the room… strictly out of obligation I offered him a taste. Unfortunately from the first bite he too was hooked and I had to share the rest.  I will definitely keep my eye out for these, they were delicious!

My appetite was ready for more treats so Mr GG and I opened the Roka Gouda Cheese bites from the Netherlands.  These were made using 20% Gouda cheese which you could really taste! I loved the recommendation to try them with a Sparkling wine, I’m sure it would be the perfect combination of flavours.

There was a sparkling wine from Germany’s Henkell & Co also included in the “Europe In A Box” but as I was writing this review the wine was being chilled ready for later.

I also munched my way through the Greek Ouzo lollies and a strawberry flavoured loll, YUM!

Europe In A Box Subscription

Also included in the box were some English Breakfast Tea from the UK and a cute little Eiffel Tower Keyring which I will add to my keys to remind me that I want my next big holiday to be a trip around Europe.  In the meantime I will indulge in this monthly European treat.

I can’t wait to see what is planned for next month …

If you would like to receive a box of goodies each month go to “Europe In A Box” and sign up.
