Luscious Nutella Chocolate Fudge Brownie

I have a treat for all the chocoholics! I’m sharing the most luscious Nutella Chocolate Fudge Brownie recipe EVER! Granted, my timing may be a little imperfect… I know we have just finished the chocolate binge known as Easter. I’m counting on the true chocolate lovers to embrace the mantra, “go hard or go home” and give this recipe a try.

The reward is a rich chocolate fudge brownie, topped with a luscious layer of squishy Nutella fudge. What could taste better? My favourite part is the Nutella fudge… I could probably almost eat that on it’s own!

Be warned though, this recipe makes quite a large slice… and it’s hard to stop at one piece! In the interest of saving my waist line I chose to make the Nutella Fudge Brownie when we were expecting friends for dinner.

I made sure to send our friends home with a “take away pack”. The following day I visited my dad and my nan off loading more of the slice. I know this sounds like I didn’t enjoy the chocolatey goodness, but that is not the case. Each time I packed up a “care package” to give to unsuspecting friends I ate almost as much as I packaged!

The problem with the slice is it isn’t TOO RICH! Which means you want to eat more… and more!

Even as I was taking the shots for this story one of the fudgey squares came a little too close to my mouth… you can see what happened…

    Chocolate Brownie Base
  • 120gm Butter
  • 170gm bittersweet chocolate
  • ¼ cup Dutch process cocoa powder
  • 3 lg eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Nutella Fudge
  • 395gm can Nestles Sweetened Condensed Milk (1 x 14 ounce can)
  • 2 Tbs butter
  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate melts
  • 1 cup Nutella (400gms or 1 x 14 ounce)

    Chocolate Brownie Base
  1. Preheat oven to 180 Degress Celcius or 350°F (176°C). Line a 9×9 baking pan with backing paper.
  2. Combine the butter, sugar chocolate and vanilla extract in a large saucepan and melt over a low heat.
  3. Remove from the heat and allow to cool a little.
  4. Add eggs and mix until well combined.
  5. Add the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt to the saucepan and stir until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until cooked
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
  9. Nutella Fudge
  10. In a microwave safe bowl combine sweetened condensed milk, butter, chocolate melts and Nutella.
  11. Microwave for one minute intervals.
  12. Continue to stir and microwave until the mixture is smooth.
  13. Spread the Nutella Fudge over the chocolate Brownie base
  14. *Note: The base doesn't need to be completely cooled before the topping is added.
  15. Refrigerate the slice until serving.

Other than the fact that this is YUMMY slice the other great point is it’s simple to make! The base is a melt and mix chocolate brownie recipe which uses just one bowl.  Whilst the brownie cooks you make the fudge in the microwave in another bowl. Simple!

About Julie

  1. Oh, Julie, these look outrageous! Just perfect for the chocoholics in my family!!! Hope you had a marvelous Easter. xo

  2. The fudge sounds decadent Julie. PS I got a 404 error when I went to read your post for the hoisin pork burger.

  3. Yum! I’m always happy to have more chocolate 🙂

  4. Gorgeous, but my waistline says save this recipe for another time x

  5. I was just thinking how amazing a nutella brownie would be the other day and was like: when I have time, I shall experiment!
Guess that won’t be the case anymore with this amazing recipe!!

  6. We almost always give away most of the sweets we make — two people just can’t eat it all. Well we can, but we shouldn’t. 🙂 This looks terrific. And so good, we’ll HAVE to give most of it away! That’s OK, just means we can make it again that much sooner.

    • Hi John, I share your philosophy, I love sweets occasionally so if I give most of them away I can make a new batch of something else delicious to try.

  7. These are seriously rich and tempting brownies, Julie.

  8. DEAR GOD! I’m definitely going hard or going home. These are evil and delicious. Wicked combo Julie 🙂

  9. These look just perfect! So rich and chocolatey! I bet these would be amazing with a cup of coffee! Hehe, I do the same thing where I make care packages for friends and family so that I don’t eat too much at once.

  10. OMG – I truly did think that after Easter I could not partake in chocolate consumption again – ever…but I love the sound of this slice, and it seems quick to make. Thank you – great for a School Holiday treat. x

  11. This Chocolate Brownie Base looks awesome, we are the same in our family with mealtimes always being together at the table, they no only eat so much more when at the table together but also its a great chance to really see what is going on with their lives.

  12. These brownies are absolutely beautiful, and actually, your timing couldn’t be better. I’ve just finished the last of the Easter chocolate, which leaves a horrible chocolate void in my house! And I happen to have jar of Nutella in the cupboard!
