YBR September 2011- Grilled Banana Bread w Maple syrup Mascarpone

It has been one of those months where I have been perpetually behind in everything I do!
I am not complaining, mind you. I started the month in Bali doing a "Food Safari" for an upcoming FIRST EVER! Gourmet Getaways and Flight Centre package tour. I then spent four days in the Port Macquarie region with a fellow blogger attending a regional event which I will share with you very shortly. Next up was a trip to the Gold Coast and a lovely stay at the Marriott Surfers Paradise.
Now I am finally home and sorting through the list of recipes I have prepared this month, in the hope of having something for my submission to Spicie Foodies "Your Best Recipe". I have to say I am a little embarrassed. With all that travel I really didn't cook very much last month! The recipe I have chosen is delicious, it is the Grilled Banana Bread w Maple Syrup Mascarpone.
I hope you enjoy it! Please go over to the Spicie Foodie website, and take a look at all the other delicious submissions for the September “Your Best Recipes”.
YBR- July 2011- Smokey Steak & Cheese Pizza w Sweet Caramelised Onion

I love this time of month, I can look back over my recipes, and salivate over all the luscious food I have experienced whislt I choose my "Your Best Recipe". The highlight for me this month was this gorgeous pizza.
The idea came about after a Wagyu Degustation meal in which we were served Bruschetta with Caramalised Onion, Rare Wagyu and Brie. These ingredients were a mouthwatering experience. I have tried to replicated that dish on this pizza.
I think I succeeded in making the most unique and gorgeously flavoured pizza I have had for a while. So please check out my original post for the recipe.

Happy eating!

YBR - June 2011 - Heart Cake Pops

For this months "Your Best Recipe" I have chosen a dish that I have failed at previously... Cake Pops! They are fiddly and difficult and really not worth the effort. Or they were until I worked out a different method...
Anyway, take a look at the images, and if you like what you see check out the original post.

They really do make a special addition to a little girls birthday party.
I hope you are tempted to give it a try.

YBR - May 2011 - Smurfy White Chocolate Panna Cotta

Well another month has come and gone, so it is time to go through the archives and chose my favourite recipe of the month.

My favourite dish this month was the Smurfy White Chocolate Panna Cotta. I was really pleased with the unique look of the dessert, and I loved the great white chocolate flavour.
I hope you are tempted to give it a try.

YBR - April 2011 - Strawberry & Rose Teacup Cupcakes
It’s the end of another month and the opportunity to sort
through the GourmetGetaway archives to choose a submission for Spicie
Foodies “Your Best Recipe.” I really enjoy this exercise
because it reminds me just how much, (or in the case of March) how little I
accomplished. This month I had a lot of delicious desserts to choose from so it
was hard to choose just one for “Your Best Recipe”

I decided to choose the Strawberry & Rose Teacup Cupcakes because I was overjoyed when these little starlets were voted into the “Foodbuzz Top 9.” I really try hard to make my recipes taste delicious and be styled to look irresistible, so when I made the top 9 I was extremely proud of my accomplishment and extremely grateful to everyone who chose to “buzz” my little teacups into that position. Thank you again everyone.

I have used one of the images from this shoot to make invitations to my daughters’ birthday party. I uploaded the file to Vistaprint and have since received the cute little invitations, they look gorgeous. So tell how you use the images you spend so long in producing. Do you have cards printed, as I did, or do have another use for your images?

YBR - January 2011 - Black Forest Macaron
Well, we are once again at the end of another. Which means it is time for me to nominate a dish which I feel is my best for the month and submit it to Spicie Foodies “Your Best Recipe” page.
The recipe I have chosen for this month is the Black Forest Macaroon.
http://www.gourmetgetaways.com.au/entries/2011-cookbook-challenge/black-forest-macaroons
I chose this dish because it is looks divine! I usually struggle to “pretty things” up but this time everything went according to plan and I was really pleased with the result.
I was also very happy with the flavours of the dessert, as I managed to recreate the taste of the Black Forest Cake in my macaron.

Now its time to have a wander over to Spicie Foodies site as she showcases the month of January’s,” Your Best Recipe”. Bon Appetite!
YBR - December 2010

We have drawn to the end of another month and another year! I hope everyone had a great New Years Eve and are not suffering too much today. I am looking forward to the coming year and I have set myself some goals, both personal and blog related.
This year my philosophy will be to "enjoy more of what I love!" This includes making more time for the people I love, both friends and family, and the things I love to do, being food, travel, wine and photography.
For the moment though, being that 2010 is now a memory it is time to showcase another recipe that I feel is my best. This month the lovely Nancy, from Spicie Foodies has suggested that we should choose our overall best recipe for 2010.
The recipe which I feel is my best for the year is the delicious Char Siu, or Chinese BBQ Pork. It is a recipe which I found on Rasa Malaysia site and it is an authentic Chinese Pork which is just magic. I chose this dish because it is the one thing I have made this year that I could not live without making again. The flavour is glorious! I was particularly happy with the dish because it was all new flavours and techniques and it came off tasting great. I really hope you will try the dish for yourself.
Now that I have given you a quick peek at my favourite recipe for the year please head over to Spicie Foodie and have a look at all the other participant’s best recipes for 2010. This is a great way of discovering some fantastic new recipes from all over the world!
I am curious to know what my readers think of New Years Resolutions?? For me the first day of a new year is exciting because I have the opportunity to nominate where I want to be by the years end. So I use the "New Years Resolution" tradition to reflect and evaluate on my lifes desires, set goals and then map a path to acieve the outcomes.
I wish all my readers a happy and prosperous year, and I hope all your hearts desires are realised to the fullest.
YBR - November 2010

Well here we are again at the last day of the month. The year is zipping by so quickly! On the final day of each month I am going to be selecting one recipe that I feel is my best for the month and submitting it to Spicie Foodies “Your Best Recipe” page.
Naturally I will show all you lovely people which recipe I have chosen first, and I will explain why. As part of the “YBR” I am inviting you to have a look at the other participant’s best recipes for the month. This is a great way of discovering some fantastic new recipes from all over the world!
The recipe I have chosen for this month is the Gorgonzola Tagliatelle. I wanted to showcase this dish because it was everything I look for in a mid week meal. It was quick and simple to make, healthy and delicious. I would absolutely make this dish over and over again. Also, even though it is simple recipe, the gorgonzola makes it just that bit special.

So give this one a go and let me know what you think. As an alternative to Gorgonzola try the dish with a marinated feta.
Now its time to have a wander over to Spicie Foodies site as she showcases the month of November’s,” Your Best Recipe”. Bon Appetite!

Have Your Say
Love the retro posters, wish I could come!
The cheeses were amazing! I just bought more at Pansabella yesterday, I could go another day without having more :)
Jac, I decided to let everyone enjoy their day without the photographic evidence. Although I do have a couple of very amusing images!
Sounds like a great evening and I love the look of that goats cheese.
Jules, we need a photo of the sexy girls that were wine tasting.........
LOL!! Winston, lets just say I certainly did my bit for charity over the weekend ;)
On a serious note though, the wines on display were top class, I am sure you would be equally as impressed as I was with the selection.
Sounds like you had a fantastic time Julie! Combining charity and wine is a great idea! :D
Ohhh coool you attended a charity by the Rotary Club! My mum has been active with them for over 30 years so I fully support anything that they do. And c'mon, drinking for charity? It doesn't get any better than that, really! Haha! Anyway, I really enjoy reading about your wine tastings on your blog there's quite a few that stood out to me and I'll try and look out for them next time. Hopefully they'll have em at Dan Murphy's, fingers crossed! =)
What a great event. I love it when people are generous with the drinks. I haven't heard of that sparkling wine before but I'll look out for it xx
I wish I had you for my mum when I was 5!
That cake would have been the talk of the town for the rest of the year - fantastic job.
Thank you so much, it is going to be a wonderful surprise for my Mum, I wish everyone a great day with your own special people, those who helped you become who you are today.
Mum definitely deserves the hamper, because she is an amazing woman that has brought up 3 kids through tough times. She is the best mum a son could ask for.
She's had it tough, working hard
deserving much more than just a card
So let's raise a glass and toast her true
The best person in the world - Mum, that's you!
