A few months ago I subscribed to TMIX magazine. For those of you that haven’t heard of this publication, it’s a glossy magazine for the Thermomix. The catch phrase of TMIX is “Getting the most from your Thermomix”.
Given that to be a Thermomix owner we’ve forked out around $2000 I tend not to be stingy with the Thermomix cookbooks, and magazines I buy. After all, I want to have plenty of recipes so I get the most bang for my buck.
My annual subscription is only $59 so it’s really not a huge investment.
Also, I’m one of those old fashioned girls that like to hold a real life magazine, so I was eagerly awaiting the delivery of the Spring edition. As I flicked through TMIX I was pleased to find 50 new recipes. There were some recipes that I immediately knew I would make. I dog-eared the pages as a reminder and past the magazine over to hubby. I asked him if he could fold down the corners if there was anything he wanted me to make.
This is a new ploy of mine. Instead of saying, “what do you feel like for dinner?” Which gets me nowhere!! I give a member of the family a magazine or cookbook. This method actually gets results and we try dishes I might not have otherwise considered.
Hubby bookmarked the barbeque chicken tikka recipe which I plan to make tonight. So far I’ve had the magazine for two days now and I’ve made two dishes already. Both were a delicious success.
The first recipe I made was the Granola Muesli Bars. I’d been at a loss as to what to pack the kids for recess. When I saw these bars I knew they would be a quick fix for the kids. I find that towards the end of the year I always run out of lunchbox ideas.
My husband was the recipient of the second dish. Coddled eggs are something I’ve always wanted to try making but the process usually needs a special coddler. After reading the article in TMIX I had to try coddling eggs using the Thermomix.
The pictures I’ve taken look a little different because I didn’t have a glass jar so I used a pottery ramekin. I covered the ramekin in plastic wrap before placing it in the varoma and added some ground chorizo to the eggs by blitzing it quickly in the TM.
Now I have a long list of recipes to make from this edition of TMIX Magazine. So I will have to stop writing and start cooking!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my review. If you’re interested in taking a look at any back issues simply follow the link.
