Chardonnay 2012

This chardonnay is from Cassegrain’s premium wine range with good reason, it’s a wine you will keep coming back to over the summer months. From the first hint of peach and tropical fruits on the nose, the wine excites the palate.

Cassegrain Chardonnay 2012

On tasting, lime, citrus and grapefruit flavours are present but balanced by the inclusion of French Oak. Time on oak has lifted the acidity and balanced the fruit giving a lovely creamy mouth feel and a lingering spicy vanillin oak finish.

Cassegrain Chardonnay is the perfect white wine to enjoy during a meal out with friends.

Goes with: Miso Glazed Salmon, Seafood, Pork Belly

Cost: $19.95

$15.95 (club price)

Available: Cellar Door off the Pacific Highway, Port Macquarie

All good bottle shops or online

This review is also featured in focus magazine but I have included here for my local Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie Gourmet Getaways readers who will have access to the vineyard direct.

About Julie

  1. I’m not usually a fan of chardonnay, but you make this one sound so good. 🙂

  2. You make me want to have a glass of it right now Julie! 😀

  3. I’m with Lorraine! I want a glass now or maybe two..

  4. Sounds terrific! We used to love chardonnay, but got away from that produced in the US because everyone seemed to follow the same heavily oaked flavor profile. Things are looking up for us, though – about time. Anyway, this sounds delish – thanks.

  5. I’m definitely not a fan of Chardonnay being more of a Pinot Gris and Grigio girl.. but you make this sound so enticing!

  6. Now I really feel like miso glazed salmon and pork belly! lol

  7. I still cannot get over how expensive your wine is when I translate it into Rands 🙂

  8. Omg… You have no idea how much I love miso glazed salmon, pork belly and seafood. What a way to get someone’s attention ahha!! It’s such a great way of recommending wines to other ppl, i.e. by suggesting food that it goes with. But not with dishes that are top dollar restaurant food, but food that we can make at home and enjoy the wine with all the time =)

  9. Love the hint of fruit and tropical tones going on in this Chardonnay!Would love a glass right now 🙂

  10. Mmm. Sounds like the perfect prelude for an evening of moon gazing! Chardonnay is my kind of bubbly =)

  11. My husband is always looking for something good to add to his chiller. I’m happy to pass along the recommendation.
